The Bold Type is coming back! Yes, that’s right, the one show we really wanted to come back has been renewed!

After the heartbreaking cancelations of Pitch and Sweet/Vicious last year, we admit we were starting to think that TV was just going to take and take and take. But no, sometimes, TV gives back.
THR is reporting that the show has been renewed for 20 more episodes, presumably ten episodes a season, and when it does come back, it’ll be with a new show-runner. Series creator Sarah Watson will not return to helm the next two seasons, after creative differences with the network. Sweet/Vicious alum Amanda Lasher will take over as showrunner.
“At Freeform, we are committed to delivering shows that celebrate the power and possibility of the female voice,” Karey Burke, Executive VP of Programming and Development at Freeform told THR. “Season one of The Bold Type brought culturally significant stories to the masses that not only entertain, but also empower our viewers to conquer the world — we are excited to continue to champion these incredible women.”
The show is inspired by the life of Hearst Magazine chief content officer (and former Cosmo editor-in-chief) Joanna Coles, and if you haven’t watched it yet, you have no excuse now – get your girlfriends and go binge!
Season one of The Bold Type is available to stream on Freeform’s digital platforms, VOD as well as Hulu.
