Our ‘Timeless’ 2×02 Soundtrack: “The Darlington 500”

Sometimes there are shows that bring people together. Right now, for the Fangirlish staff, Timeless is that show.  Years ago, some of us came together through Arrow, and stayed together because the bonds of friendship had already been established, but in the last few years Timeless has given us the unique chance to fangirl again, to exchange all-caps texts and to just enjoy something, together.

And that’s why, today, we want to celebrate that, and at the same time, build up the hype for the second episode of Timeless a little more, with this Episode “The Darlington 500” soundtrack. All credit goes to Mimi for the idea. Here it is, Mimi. We’re doing it every week. Let’s see if we can do this without giving too much away!

Lizzie’s Picks

“You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban

When I am down, and, oh, my soul, so weary/When troubles come, and my heart burdened be/Then, I am still and wait here in the silence/Until you come and sit awhile with me

“I’ll Stand by You” by The Pretenders

Oh, why you look so sad, the tears are in your eyes/Come on and come to me now, and don’t be ashamed to cry/Let me see you through, ’cause I’ve seen the dark side too/When the night falls on you, you don’t know what to do/Nothing you confess could make me love you less/I’ll stand by you/I’ll stand by you, won’t let nobody hurt you/I’ll stand by you

“Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran

So honey now/Take me into your loving arms/Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars/Place your head on my beating heart/I’m thinking out loud/Maybe we found love right where we are

Alyssa’s Picks

“Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur

I knew I loved you then/But you’d never know/’Cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go/I know I needed you/But I never showed/But I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old/Just say you won’t let go

“Father’s Son” by 3 Doors Down

And I’ve bundled up all these fears inside/And I’ve bottled up all of this pain/And no one or nothing can take this away/But I won’t let it happen again

“Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts

Every long lost dream led me to where you are/And others who broke my heart they were like northern stars/Pointing me on my way into your loving arms/This much I know it’s true/That God blessed the broken road/That led me straight to you

Lyra’s Picks

“You Send Me” by Sam Cooke

You thrill me/I know you, you, you thrill me/Darling, you, you, you, you thrill me/Honest you do/At first I thought it was infatuation/But, woo, it’s lasted so long/Now I find myself wanting/To marry you and take you home

“I Walk the Line” by Johnny Cash

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine/I keep my eyes wide open all the time/I keep the ends out for the tie that binds/Because you’re mine, I walk the line/I find it very, very easy to be true/I find myself alone when each day’s through/Yes, I’ll admit that I’m a fool for you/Because you’re mine, I walk the line

“Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley

Number forty-seven said to number three/You’re the cutest jailbird I ever did see/I sure would be delighted with your company/Come on and do the Jailhouse Rock with me
