The Doctor and her companions ended up at a Tranquility spa that was a front for an Earth that had long ago been destroyed by it’s own hand in “Orphan 55.” They encountered monsters that will give you nightmares, situations where they missed each other dearly, and savage lines via The Doctor that I don’t think I’ll forget anytime soon. So, without further ado, let’s dive into our 6 favorite moments from Doctor Who‘s “Orphan 55”!
1. The Doctor Telling Her Fam About Earth’s Fate
The Doctors fam and us as viewers needed to hear this. Day in and day out, we are bombarded by so much hate, frustration, and anger on TV, the news, or even the radio. It’s absolutely exhausting and feels like there’s no way for us to actually make change in a system that feels rigged. But we can do it. We have the power within us to change worlds and there’s nothing anyone can do to take that away from us!
2. Ryan Fighting Off Bats
This was hands down the silliest moment of the entire episode. A virus caught in a bag of crisps while this serious character aka Ryan sucks his thumb and fights off bats. It’s Doctor Who at it’s finest and definitely one of the funniest moments of the season even though the show has just started it’s 12th season. Imagine how much fun this was on set? I need the blooper reel!
3. Yaz Calling Out the Doctor
Proud of Yaz for pointing out to The Doctor that she’s been in a right mood since the Master and all his nonsense. Which, who wouldn’t be after everything experienced with that mad mad Time Lord? If anything, The Doctor needed this wake up call to get her moving and shake off everything that Master made her feel like since he told her about Gallifrey.
4. The Doctor Having a Good Conversation on Her Lonesome
Leave it to The Doctor to be the kind of chatty Kathy that doesn’t need anyone else to start a conversation or have one in the first place. She’s an independent Time Lord who figures it all out, no matter how long it takes, or what obstacles she finds herself coming up against. So, sit back, relax and don’t tell The Doctor your intentions. She’s got this in the bag!
5. Every Moment with Those Terrifying Monsters
Technically I’m cheating here but this is my post and I get to do whatever I want. So, every moment with these monsters was terrifying. Did they look a little weird sometimes? Yes, yes they did. But the way that their teeth stood out like a baboon’s, instant shivers down my spine. This is what we’re destined to become in one of the infinite timelines? Scary AF.
6. Graham Worrying About Family aka Ryan
It was on brand and so damn cute to see Graham worrying about Ryan. They’re family and they’ve worked really hard to become that. It’s sad that it took three episodes into season 12 for us to see more of that family aspect, but it’s here and I love every bit of it. Would really like to see them exploring the universe and Ryan calling Graham “granddad.”
