There’s so much to love about Roswell, New Mexico. Whether it’s the fact that every episode fails to disappoint, the complex and diverse characters that populate this realistic world, or the emotional reactions the show forces from us on the weekly.
But perhaps an underrated element of Roswell, New Mexico‘s allure is the soundtrack that guides the story each and every week.
I’ve always made it clear that the eclectic mix of ’90s and modern music breathes unique life into this show. Especially the ’90s music, which pays homage to the original series.
This week’s episode brought us some new songs that did a great job setting the mood for the tone of this episode. Another example of how music is an integral part to conveying the emotion of a scene.
Let’s take a look at the music that appeared in Roswell, New Mexico‘s seventh episode this season, “Como La Flor.”
“Drive” – Shelly Fairchild
This song plays in the beginning of the episode as Max, Isobel and Michael discuss Max’s weird nightmares that are actually flashbacks he’s been having.
“Good For Nothing” – Big Stone City
This song plays as Rosa’s emotions regarding her mother, Helena, and her stereo is blasting music as Helena gives a speech downstairs in the diner.
“Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” – Selena
This song plays as Helena drags Max to dance with her — that is until Liz unplugs the jukebox.
“Blood From a Stone” – Honey Country
This song plays as Michael reveals to Maria and Kyle what he learned about the Caulfield experiments — and how they involved Maria’s grandmother. This song continues as Kyle goes to live, ripping his shirt, which tells Maria that she had a premonition.
“Where Is My Mind?” – AG
This song plays near the end of the episode, as Michael and Isobel discuss their desire to look deeper into their pasts — so Michael can find a cure for Maria’s illness and so Isobel can understand herself. This song continues as Rosa takes one of the oxycodone she stole from her mom’s car.
“This World” – Cactus Groove
This song plays as Helena shows up to the Crashdown, preparing to wreak havoc.
“Mrs. Vinegar” – Mathis Hunter
This song plays at the Wild Pony as Maria has a vision of Kyle, which makes her think he was abducted by aliens.
“Way Down” – Big Stone City
This song plays as Rosa listens to music and Isobel walks into her room to “babysit” her.
“Best I Can Do” – Elizabeth Moen
This song plays when Maria tells Michael she thinks she got her powers from her grandmother.
“Keep On Coming Back” – Wagons
This song plays as Isobel and Michael talk at the Wild Pony, where she asks him if he thinks Noah chose her because she’s broken.
