I haven’t watched Legends of Tomorrow in ages, but I admit I was thinking of catching up now that we’re finally getting a latina character. Well, was, past tense. I don’t think I can look at Caity Lotz’s face right now and enjoy anything she’s on.
Lotz showed her privilege in an ugly way on Twitter yesterday, as she attempted to memorialized RBG. This, of course, isn’t just a bad way of honoring RBG, and it isn’t just plain dumb (which it is, both of those things), it also shows that Caity, a woman known for playing a bisexual character, and standing up for female empowerment, is nothing more than a phony.
Performative feminism for the win.
As if this wasn’t bad enough, Lotz just kept doubling down and doubling down. I won’t list all her attempts to explain herself, or her woe is me tweet afterwards, but I will share some of the best responses to her ignorance, so we can all laugh together:
The truth hurts.
Or does it?
Let’s stan better people:
Not, you know, racists:
Privileged racists, at that:
Did I mention there are no two sides?
So yes, THIS.
Update: Caity is feeling victimized by …eh, consequences to her own ignorance?
To which I can only say:
This article is a very clear indicator that the author needs to spend some time offline and interacting with people outside her echo chamber.
