I have to admit I wondered why Zoey 101 ended, but I did always assume that it was because of Jamie Lynn Spears getting pregnant. I figured that she wanted to stop acting and honestly – it was not anyone’s business.
But Spears has been busy promoting her new Zoey 101 song, FOLLOW ME, and that means she’s been talking a lot about the good old days of Zoey 101.
“In today’s world, immediately I’d have my social media to post something, and it’d be cleared up. But even today, people still have their thoughts about it. I didn’t become pregnant until probably six months after we wrapped or something like that, but some of the episodes had not aired yet,” Jamie Lynn explained to Nylon. “I think that there was a conversation with Nickelodeon, rightfully so, of, ‘Do we air these episodes?’ But the show had already wrapped and there was never a negotiation to go into any more seasons. We were too old. It was done.”
Which makes sense, but I think that at the time it never came to mind that it would have just been over.
Zoey 101 followed the kids of Pacific Coast Academy in Malibu, California, and ran from 2005 to 2008 on Nickelodeon.
