It takes a lot of courage to talk about the things that we are going through, but when you are a celebrity, I can only imagine that it’s harder. The world is sitting by, waiting to judge everything about you and make comments about everything.
But some appreciate that when a celebrity talks about something personal that they are going through, because it can make people feel less alone.
Outerbanks star, Madelyn Cline spoke with Women’s Health magazine and spoke about her eating disorder, which started due to body issues that she had as a teenager.
“I think I was around 16 when I started working out a lot,” she told the magazine. “I would wake up every morning at 5 a.m. and I would work out for 30 minutes. It was super rigorous cardio every day.”
And though she was working out religiously, she did not achieve the body that she wanted, and that sent her into a spiral which involved her cutting calories from her diet.
“It would be the kind of thing where I would eat six almonds for breakfast, because I didn’t want to counteract the cardio I just did,” Madelyn added. “It turned into not feeding myself protein and not feeding my body what it needed when I was working out so much.”
But she did get help and is in recovery and credits her Mom with giving her the support that she needs.
“My mom was a wonderful help in that. She would stand there in the mirror with me and we would list out things that I liked about my body,” Madelyn said. “After that repetition those things became solidified in my mind. I like my curves, I like my hips, and after a while I started to love my body. I became so much happier.”
I love that she had her Mama’s support. So important to have people that you can count on and a support system who is there for you.
