We finally have new Legacies content! The first promo for Season 3 is here! After months and months of waiting to see whether the Super Squad can save Hope and Landon before it’s too late, well, we have to do a little more waiting. Luckily for us, we can dissect the brand new promo for Season 3 in the meantime. There’s plenty to unpack even though it’s only 30 seconds long.
Entertainment Weekly exclusively shared the promo this afternoon to all of our delight. The buzz on Twitter echoes how excited fans are to get back to Mystic Falls and the Salvatore School.
Season 2 ended early this past March, as production was shut down as a safety precaution. Legacies Season 2 Episode 16, “Facing Darkness is Kinda My Thing,” left Hope Mikaelson unable to wake up and the Necromancer used Rafael to stab Landon with the golden arrow. Julie Plec’s tweet below is a hint that the Season 3 premiere will pick up right where Season 2 left off because of this.
Legacies is known for taking a lighter tone than its predecessors in the TVD Universe. This promo looks like Legacies is going to lean into its darker side this season. Everything is much more tense than the usual hi-jinx that come with slaying the monster of the week, because this time it’s about saving two of their own. It’s bigger than everything else. Well, maybe not Kai Parker, but still.
It’s always fun to watch how the Super Squad adjusts without Hope. We can already see more of that in the promo. Lizzie saying, “Where the hell is Hope Mikaelson when you need here,” says it all. We need Hope Mikaelson, but we also need Landon Kirby.
The promo posits that Landon is already dead and Rafael is doing everything possible to bring him back to life. Of course, the Necromancer is the only one to turn to on such matters, which means he’ll be useful for once. The Super Squad better hurry and save the day before it’s too late.
Legacies Season 3 premieres Thursday, January 21st on the CW.
