IWGDWTS on Fangirlish varies week to week – this one is controversial. It’s controversial in many ways. This edition is dedicated to Jonerys, a.k.a Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones.
First, I should start off saying that I watched the series before I read the books. From the first episode I shipped Dany and Jon before there were hints of a possible Dany and Jon. I fell in love with them.
Let’s start talking about the controversies. First, they are related. Dany is Jon’s aunt. Yes, they are both Targaryens and in the Game of Thrones world, it’s not a big deal for Targaryens to be together. People don’t blink about it – they are the exception to the rule.
On the other hand, Jon doesn’t treat Dany all that great in the last season. When he finds out the truth about his parentage he is disgusted. He pulls away from Dany and he doesn’t want to be with her. He treats her like shit and then murders her.
But, here’s the thing, I don’t give a shit. I’m not into incest in anyway – it’s wrong on so many levels. Dany and Jon are the exception to that rule. Yes, I am a hypocrite and I don’t care. While it makes perfect sense that Jon is Rhaegar and Lyanna’s child, I don’t really consider him Dany’s nephew in my mind. It just doesn’t ever go there.
Another thing, I don’t consider the shit show that was season 8 as canon. Therefore, anything that happened, doesn’t exist.
My version of canon happened very differently. Jon killed the Night King. Sansa and Arya support Jon and love Dany. Boat baby exists. Cersei was not killed by being buried alive. She got what she deserved and died a slow painful death at Dany and Jon’s hands. Dany and Jon are married and rule the Seven Kingdoms, together.
In short, Dany and Jon are perfect together. They compliment each other. Jon is everything that Dany deserves. Someone who treats her right – not someone who belittles her or rapes her. Jon gets someone who stands up and makes him believe in himself. They are each other’s home. They have so much chemistry. They are fire. Jonerys for life.
