It’s 2020, we’re not even sure we want more Sex and the City. Like, we’re genuinely not sure we like any of them. But …almost more importantly, we’re not sure we want more of …just 3 of the 4?
Call if nostalgia, or whatever you want, but …whatever we did love about this show, it was mostly about the friendship.
But now TVLine is reporting that a Samantha-less revival is eyeing a series order on HBO Max. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon are set to reprise their signature roles, but Kim Cattrall, who has been in a very public feud with costar Parker – and the whole idea of the show – for quite some time, is not set to return.
And neither should the show, if we’re being honest. Yes, we want more shows centered on female friendships, we desperately do. But HBO would do better by going out and finding some BIPOC writers and casting some BIPOC actresses to show us that. We need more of that, and less of this.
The original show ran for six seasons on HBO, and spawned two movies.
