I am all for remakes, but in the same breath, I do hope that people understand that for somethings my heart will remain with the original. Why? Because sometimes movies and television shows bring back certain memories that I am not close to wanting to let go of.
Father of The Bride is one of those movies.
But it is being rebooted and one of the biggest Cuban-American stars has signed on to the cast.
Gloria Estefan is in negotiations to join Andy Garcia in the reboot, which Gaz Alazraki has been set to helm. Gloria Estefan and Andy Garcia? I may rethink my allegiances to the original one and my thoughts on not ever wanting to watch a reboot about it.
The new story would revolve around a, “father coming to grips with his daughter’s upcoming wedding through the prism of multiple relationships within a big, sprawling Cuban-American family.”
Gloria Estefan would be signing on to play Andy Garcia‘s wife in the reboot. Already set to star as the daughter is Adria Arjona. She will play the bride-to-be.
A resounding YES was my answer to the invitation to join my good friend, the incredibly talented Andy Garcia, for this new and wonderfully warm and funny incarnation of the classic, Father of the Bride! I’ve been a fan of director Gaz Alazraki since I saw his record-breaking comedy Nosotros Los Nobles and can’t wait to experience how he brings this amazing script by Matt Lopez to life,” Estefan said.
I can’t wait to learn more about the reboot and see what happens next with the reboot.
What are your thoughts?
