In this week’s episode of 9-1-1: Lonestar, some of our favorite characters are struggling. In “A Little Help From My Friends” Grace focuses on her recovery and has trouble asking for help; Owen seems depressed after TK moves out; and Mateo’s apartment blows up. Plus, Marjan proves again just how amazing she is.
If you’ve read any of our previous reviews, you know that we absolutely love Grace. She is always there ready and willing to help everyone else, and maybe that’s why she has trouble accepting that she needs help now. Even though she was in pain she told Judd she was fine. She finally realizes she needs help when she gets stuck in the backseat of her car for six hours and finally calls Tommy.
It was kind of funny that she refused to call Judd and that she ate the entire container of Rocky Road while stuck in her car. But we hate that she was in so much pain. But after Tommy gives her meds and gets her home, she realizes it’s okay to ask for help. Maybe now she’ll let her parents do her grocery shopping and Judd can also help take care of her. Grace needs to focus on recovering and taking care of herself and that precious baby.
Owen also struggled in “A Little Help From My Friends.” After getting very drunk with Mateo, Owen admits that he cancelled his final surgery. The entire 126 comes together to stage an intervention to help Owen. We love that everyone wanted to help him. Owen has had a rough couple of months with learning that the baby wasn’t his and now TK moving out. That would make anyone sad and lonely. And we’re relieved that Owen is going to reschedule his surgery. It’s important.

Firefox Strikes Again
Later in the episode, some obnoxious football players show up to the ice cream parlor and convince the guy working to give them the friends discount and make them a sweet cream even though the machine is on the fritz. While using it, the guy’s arm gets stuck in the machine. His co-worker helps free his arm but then she gets stuck, too. It’s awful, and what’s worse is the football players and friends film the entire thing and think her pain is hilarious. Luckily, Marjan decides to teach them a lesson. She films them making idiots out of themselves and posts it to her Firefox page. So now everyone will know how awful they are. This was great, and we’re so proud of Marjan.
Other Thoughts:
- We completely agree that Mateo needs new friends, and obviously, new roommates. We kind of didn’t hate him living with Owen. Maybe this is the start of a great friendship. The one we didn’t know we needed.
- We couldn’t help but laugh when everyone talked about Owen not realizing they were on an open channel, and he could hear everything.
- We’re happy Owen’s dog is okay. It would have been awful if Owen had had to put him to sleep.
- How cute was it when Owen and the rest of the crew decide to throw an ice cream birthday party for that little boy? It was so nice and sweet that they wanted to make his birthday special.
