In the last couple of weeks, casting reports for the upcoming Knives Out 2 have dropped, and it seems half of Hollywood will be on board. The other half will presumably be cast in the already-announced Knives Out 3.
Little is known about the plot of the upcoming sequels to the 2019 Rian Johnson hit, Knives Out – which had a star-studded cast of its own. However, with this cast on board, we’ll definitely be tuning in the night it drops!
Daniel Craig
This was the only announcement that didn’t come as a surprise. Daniel Craig will return, reprising his role as Benoit Blanc. Foghorn Leghorn accent and all.
Dave Bautista
Bautista is best known for his roles in the Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, as well as his former work with WWE. One can only hope Johnson intends to utilize the sense of humor Bautista displayed as Drax in the popular Marvel movies.
Kathryn Hahn
Chances are, if you didn’t know who Kathryn Hahn was before, you do now after the popular Disney+ WandaVision series that aired earlier this year. In a series that was excellent as a whole, she was a definite stand-out. She excelled in the (often) more dramatic role, but her roles in former projects, such as Parks and Recreation, have established her perfect sense of comedic timing.
Kate Hudson
In the most recent casting announcement, it was revealed that Kate Hudson of Almost Famous and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days fame has joined the Knives Out 2 cast. Having seen the latter, I’m placing bets now that she’s going to be the murderer. (Which almost certainly means she won’t be.)
Janelle Monáe
Singer, songwriter, record producer, model, actor…is there anything Janelle Monáe can’t do? As an actress, she might be best known for roles in movies like Hidden Figures and Moonlight. But she was also apparently an uncredited writer of one of the best episodes of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, titled “Zoey’s Extraordinary Reckoning“. And, yeah, maybe that’s not one of her best-known projects, but I love her for it anyway.
Edward Norton
At this point, it almost feels like Rian Johnson is poaching former or current Marvel actors, doesn’t it? Not that calling upon actors from one of the most popular film franchises of our era is a bad idea. Norton is known for a dozen or so roles, such as The Incredible Hulk, Birdman (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), and Primal Fear.
Leslie Odom, Jr.
It’s hard to say what – or who – was the best part of Hamilton, the Broadway production that was released on Disney+ in 2020. But if we’re being honest, it had to be Leslie Odom, Jr. right? He at least has to be in the top 3 by any accounting. Which makes us even more excited to hear that he’s been cast in Knives Out 2. Is it too much to hope that the movie franchise is juuuuuuust irreverent enough to have him break out into song at some point? We’ll keep our fingers crossed!

Knives Out 2 will be released on Netflix in 2022.
