You know how you watch television shows with your family when you’re a kid and you are like yes, let that show be over with? My Grandma used to watch Highway To Heaven and after it was cancelled, she had the show on VHS tapes and we’d all sit and watch with her.
But I will be honest, I never, ever thought that the show would come back. Michael Landon was an icon. He was what made the show. He made everything he was in special and welcoming.
And when he passed away it felt like nothing that he did should ever be redone.
But leave it to Hollywood to reboot another show. And no shocker here – it’s on Lifetime. The network has greenlighted event movie series Highway To Heaven, a modern take on the classic show starring Barry Watson and Jill Scott.
The show will be about, “Scott stars as new angel Angela who comes down to Earth to help people in crisis. Landon played the male version of the character in the original series, the angel Jonathan, who was sent to Earth to help people in need. Watson portrays Junior High School principal Bruce to whom Angela reveals her true identity.”
Ben Daon (The Astronauts), Robert Moloney (Riverdale, You Me Her) and Ashley Ross (A Series of Unfortunate Events) are also part of the cast.
Have you ever seen the original? What are your thoughts?
