I think we all know that I thrive off a book adaptation. I have a lot of opinions, but so do a lot of book readers. There is always the wonder of if they adapted it right, how they are going to market, and if they know what they are doing with fandom.
Because the truth is, most networks and studios don’t understand fandom at all. And it grows to be a vicious circle because then the agencies that create content want to do what the studio says and they in turn don’t understand the fandom.
But I digress.
Peacock optioned One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus and though no one has a lot of information on the show, they have released the first teaser.
And we’re really LOVING it.
The official synopsis says that the show is about “what happens when five high schoolers walk into detention and only four make it out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.”
Trust me, read the book. It’s a lot more than you think it will be.
We are loving the cinematography in the teaser which only adds to the mood of the adaptation.
The cast is a good one too. Leading the cast are The Purge‘s Marianly Tejada; Unverified‘s Cooper van Grootel; Cobra Kai‘s Annalisa Cochrane; and American Housewife‘s Chibuikem Uche.
Also in the cast are Jessica McLeod, Barrett Carnahan, and Melissa Collazo.
One Of Us Is Lying is produced by Jennifer Morrison and the pilot was written by Erica Saleh. Morrison also directed the pilot. You know that it’s going to be good when the co-creator of Elite, Darío Madrona, is the show runner.
No word on premiere date yet.
Have you read the book? Are you excited for the adaptation?
