What time is it? Summertime! Disney+ renewed High School Musical: The Musical: The Series for Season 3, and the details we know are everything. The chance of hearing High School Musical 2 songs on this (in their entirety) has never felt more possible! My fingers are also crossed for some Camp Rock 2 songs, considering the setting of Season 3.
According to Deadline, Season 3 “will follow the Wildcats as they leave the hallways of East High for the ultimate summer at sleepaway camp, complete with campfires, summer romances and curfew-less nights. Production for the third season will relocate from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles and begin later this year.”
Can’t you imagine Portwell singing “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” from Camp Rock 2?
After the many cliffhangers of the Season 2 finale, summer camp sounds like the dream location for the next season and second chances. It’s a perfect way to bring the Wildcats and the Hornets together over a bonfire. Maybe this will be what Lily needs to put her right foot forward, or it could be the way to further her long game.

That is why I can’t help but believe “summer romances” has more to do with Lily and Ricky than it does EJ and Gina. Summer camp could be the chance Portwell needs to connect after misreading signals and that epic cliffhanger last season. I just want the best for all the Wildcats. Is that too much to ask?
Disney+ renewed the series with a statement by creator and showrunner Tim Federle. Federle shared, “We are overjoyed to be heading to the great outdoors for season three, and grateful to our partners and friends at Disney+ for their continued support of our next-generation Wildcats.”
It’s out with the old and in with the new. Get it? Because the Wildcats are trading East High for a summer camp? There’s an HSM quote for everything.
I am equally as overjoyed to see this next chapter for the Wildcats. Season 2 was such a bright spot in my summer. I know Season 3 will spark a whole lot of joy, too. No matter the drama, the Wildcats will always work this out if they’re all in this together. Yes, that’s one last, shameless HSM 2 reference.
