Our second roundtable interview with the cast of Star Trek: Discovery features Mary Wiseman, aka Sylvia Tilly, and David Ajala, aka Cleveland “Book” Booker. Tilly and Book are two of my favorite characters on Star Trek: Discovery and it was an absolute delight to get to speak with them in this interview.
Let me give you a brief introduction to these two and then we’ll get to the interview.
Ensign Sylvia Tilly, Reporting for Duty!
I have made it no secret that Tilly really speaks to me. Her exuberance, her kindness, and her sincere friendship warm my heart and make me feel seen. I adore Mary Wiseman’s portrayal of Tilly, but sadly, I had no familiarity with her work prior to Star Trek! In addition to her role as Tilly in Star Trek: Discovery, Mary also stars in Longmire as Meg Joyce and Baskets as Trinity. Mary is also featured in the Netflix original film, Marriage Story.
It was so fun to speak with Mary in this interview and I can’t wait to watch Tilly’s leadership skills grow this season.
Cleveland Booker–Cat Daddy and Courier Extraordinaire!
Book is a guy that you want on your side. He’s someone you can count on in the clutch and he doesn’t leave anyone behind. Plus, we all love a super sweet cat daddy. David Ajala’s portrayal of Cleveland Booker is absolutely endearing and all his scenes with Michael melt my heart.
You might better know David from Fast & Furious 6, Supergirl, and Jupiter Ascending. David has also done voice-overs for commercials in the past, and with a voice like his, it’s easy to see (or hear) why.
I unintentionally (seriously!) almost got spoilers out of David in this interview, but like Book, he’s always on his toes. Thanks for being a good sport, David!
