It’s starting to sink in that Oscar Isaac is a part of the MCU because the first official trailer for Moon Knight is here! Of course, this trailer leaves plenty to the imagination for those who aren’t entirely familiar with the character. Still, it’s a perfect pull to get fans of varying degrees of familiarity invested in Marc Spector and the show.
We’ve already written a bit of a breakdown of Marc Spector/Moon Knight when Disney and Marvel Studios released the first footage. This trailer lets us see more of the day-to-day aspects of his life without revealing too much about how Spector comes to be Moon Knight. We want some things to remain a surprise!
The new footage also shows how the character lives with Disassociative Identity Disorder, like in the comics. The camera work in the trailer shows this in creative ways, too. That aspect of Marc is something trailers likely won’t be able to convey in its complex entirety, so the show will have to provide more details.
Otherwise, like Mobius on Loki, the closed captions for the trailer reveal Hawke’s character to be Arthur Harrow. Without revealing too much, Harrow has quite the past in Moon Knight comics. He’s a talented surgeon and scientist. It’s rumored that Hawke’s Harrow will be the antagonist of Moon Knight.
Beyond that, the Moon Knight trailer gives even closer looks of Marc in the comics-accurate suit. There’s a glimpse of the moon god Khonshu. Really, it’s a “blink and you’ll miss it” glimpse at that character. Mostly, this trailer is the perfect tease for what’s to come in March.
It shows that Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke will blow this series out of the water as if we expected anything less from them.
Plus, it appears as though Moon Knight could be the MCU’s way to dip its toe into the horror genre before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Moon Knight‘s six-episode season has its finale dropping May 4, 2022, which is merely days before the Doctor Strange sequel hits theaters.
We know that Multiverse of Madness is the MCU’s first horror film. What if this show is the MCU’s first horror show? WandaVision walked the line so Moon Knight could cross it.
