“The Multiverse is a concept about which we know frightening little.”
The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness teaser trailer and poster are here, and, as ever, there is plenty to discuss. But, before we get started, here is your fair warning that this article will contain spoilers from Spider-Man: No Way Home.
If you haven’t seen Spider-Man: No Way Home yet, scroll down to the trailer and the poster and come back later to discuss all the details and how they connect to that movie.

Most of this teaser acted as a post-credits scene for No Way Home. Stephen helped Peter with his identity problem, but that spell Wong vehemently warned Stephen not to do had significant consequences. Those consequences are ones that Peter can’t clean up.
It’s Stephen Strange’s turn to “Scooby-Doo this shit.”
It was only a matter of time before Marvel Studios released this teaser. Now makes the most sense because the opening weekend is out of the way, and the Hawkeye season finale just dropped on Disney+.
Marvel Studios can set its sights on the next big thing: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness without wasting any time.

Stephen Strange has to recruit a team to help him understand and control the Multiverse. Who better join that fight than the most powerful character in the MCU — Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch. This team-up is exciting for various reasons, mainly because that means we’ll get to see the Scarlet Witch suit up on the big screen.
It’s fitting this year started with Elizabeth Olsen‘s phenomenal performance on WandaVision, and it’s ending with her return to the MCU in this teaser. 2021 is the Scarlet Witch’s year!
Plus, America Chavez (!!!) will make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, played by newcomer Xochitl Gomez. There are a few swift glimpses of the character in the teaser. However, there’s a great chance this is only the beginning for that character. These new Marvel properties are collecting Young Avengers like Thanos did Infinity Stones.
It’s only a matter of time before that announcement rolls around, too, but for now, we have Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to look forward to in May 2022. In this movie, Stephen may meet his match when he comes up against none other than himself. This Variant (?) of Strangle may look familiar to MCU fanatics.

Yes, that’s Stephen Strange from the What If…? series. That confirmation is enough to instill confidence that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be the MCU’s first horror movie. That character is terrifying.
Mordo even tells Strange, “The greatest threat to our universe is you.” The moral of the story is to listen to Wong.
There are some more lighthearted details to catch in this teaser trailer. Namely, Rachel McAdams‘ Christine Palmer may play a more active role in this film. She is wearing a costume some would consider a super-suit, so that’s a good sign that she won’t miss out on all of the action.
Alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, this film stars Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Sam Raimi directed this Doctor Strange sequel.
