Sometimes you look at the news and you go wait what? This is one of those times. Because, yes, two fans of Ana de Armas have decided to sue Universal because the actress appeared on the trailer for the movie Yesterday — which actually stars Himesh Patel and Lily James — but was cut from the finished project.
They are, of course, not suing on behalf of Armas, but themselves. See, they rented the movie on Amazon Prime. For 3.99 each. And they feel like they’re entitled to compensation. They only rented the movie for her, after all.
Oh, and it gets better. They’re seeking at least $5 million dollars as their compensation. Well, not just theirs, the lawsuit claims to be on behalf of all affected viewers in their two home states.
You can check out the trailer for the movie below:
Ironically, all they needed to do was check YouTube and they would have found the deleted scenes. No need to pay, OR GET MAD!
And yes, this is …a LOT. And not in a good way. It’s one thing to say Universal Pictures used de Armas’ “fame, radiance and brilliance” to promote the film by including her scenes in the trailer — which, eh, they did — and another one to seek compensation for 3.99 in the form of 5$ million dollars.
The actress recently appeared in No Time to Die, and is reported to be in talks to play the lead in the John Wick spin-off movie Ballerina. So we don’t think she’s as upset as these fans are. But then again, is anyone?
