It’s been almost 2 years since the last adventures of Jean-Luc Picard and the La Sirena. This weekend Picard fans were treated to a sneak peek of season 2, which included some familiar faces. Now that we’ve had a few days to marinate on it, let’s take a look at the trailer, and then we’ll talk Trek.
There are a few points of interest for me in this trailer.
1). Q Who?
We knew that fan-favorite antagonist Q was coming, and it looks like he’s managed to send everyone to a different timeline. Q always makes for fun and interesting Star Trek, so I can’t wait to see how his presence guides the season. Also, he’s having a conversation with Dr. Alton Inigo Soong? That’s scary on multiple levels.
Also, John de Lancie has apparently become a silver fox. Good grief.
2). GUINAN!
When Sir Patrick Stewart went on The View and personally invited Whoopi Goldberg to join the cast for season 2, Star Trek fans went nuts at the thought of the Enterprise-D’s favorite bartender being on Star Trek again. However, there was no official confirmation that she was joining the cast until this trailer. I’m raising a glass to more sage advice over a drink from Guinan.
3). De-Borg’d Seven of Nine?
We knew Seven had lost her Borg implants from previous teaser trailers, but now that we have a little more context for why, this makes it much more interesting. Also, Jeri Ryan is a badass as Seven. I can’t wait to watch her kick butt and take names, even as a regular person.
4). BORG FRICKIN’ QUEEN!
Our new Borg Queen (Annie Wersching) looks terrifying. Also, what is she doing to Dr. Agnes Jurati? I’ve got a soft spot for Agnes because I love Alison Pill. I’ve never seen her play the same role twice! (Check out Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Dan in Real Life for examples). I really hope she’s not going to get borg’d!
5). ELNOR ON THE TABLE?!
What’s wrong with my guy Elnor?! I need more of his absolute candor. No one best have hurt that little cinnamon roll or they will have to answer to me, along with the crew of the La Sirena.
