The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power teaser trailer is finally here! During Sundays Super Bowl between the Bengals and Rams. And to no one’s surprise, it’s a thing of beauty that sets the stage for an epic series that we’re sure not to forget.
Front and center in this adventure is Galadriel. Previously played by Cate Blanchett, she is now being played by Morfydd Clark, known for Crawl and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Throughout the trailer we see her climbing a wall of ice, getting into fights with creatures, riding across a field, and even having someone check her elvish ears.
But she’s not the only one that we get to see in this trailer. Ismael Cruz Córdova, known for Mary Queen of Scots and Miss Bala, is seen multiple times as Arondir. In one scene we see him catching arrows like nothing before we get an up-close shot of his face. And in other we see him making a leap to freedom, a chain around his ankle, signaling to us that he’s trapped and in danger.
He’s joined by Sophia Nomvete, the dwarven princess Disa. Now, while we don’t get a prolonged scene with her, it’s really cool to see her in action. It’s also really informative of what’s to come with the multiple shots of dwarves. Basically, Disa is not going to be a passing character that fades into the night of The Rings of Power. She matters and so do her people.
