At last, an answer that makes sense about the whereabouts of Francesca Bridgerton.
The sixth Bridgerton sibling, who was mostly absent during Season 1 is almost mostly absent during a Season 2 where most expected her to have a bigger role. On an interview with TV Line, however, showrunner Chris Van Dusen confirmed her absence was out of their control.
“I love Francesca, but we lost her midway through Season 2,” he shared. “After exhausting all other options, she unfortunately had to come out due to reasons beyond our control. Perhaps Season 3 will be the charm.”
The reasons? Ruby Stokes commitment to another Netflix series, Lockwood & Co.
And as for the hoping Season 3 is the charm, well, it better be. Francesca Bridgerton’s love story isn’t until the sixth book — or season — but considering Francesca’s story is a second chance romance, she still needs to meet and marry her first husband next season, when she comes out.
So, explanation, check. Do we still hope things had been different? Indeed we do. Now give us the amount of Francesca we need in Season 3 and promise us we’ll get her season, and we might feel better.
Bridgerton, whose second season will release this Friday, has been renewed until season 4.
