Misha Collins, best known for his role of Castiel in Supernatural, is taking on a new role in the upcoming series Gotham Knights. According to Variety, he’s a dashing character with swagger, charm, and who is pretty much stuck in his ways as a District Attorney. That apparently goes down the drain when tragedy strikes and he is transformed into the villain Two-Face.
Most surprisingly, The CW pilot is a beast of its own and is not a spin-off of Batwoman or connected to the Warner Bros. Games, which is a damn shame because it’d be cool if it was and we’re sorely in need of another DCTV crossover. (We kind of miss those days. But not trying to keep all the storylines straight or why they don’t help each other if they’re all on the same Earth.)
But…moving on!
According to Variety, Gotham Knights tells the story of the team that emerges after Bruce Wayne is murdered. His adopted son forges alliances with the “children of Batman’s enemies” because they’ve all been framed for the murder in question. But as you probably predicted, things don’t turn out the way they planned and they kind of end up being the heroes that Gotham needs.
Honestly, and maybe that’s why we kept this for last, we love Collins. We always have and always will because of Castiel and the great work he’s done to make the world a better place. But…we don’t think he can pull it off. We’ve seen his work on Timeless and it wasn’t impressive. But maybe he’ll surprise us like Heath Ledger did as the Joker and show us he isn’t a one-trick pony.
So, we’re hesitant to watch but ready to try out Misha Collins in The CW’s Gotham Knights.
