The Adam Project has been one of our favorite movies this year and that isn’t just because it starred Ryan Reynolds. Part of the joy of the movie and what made it work was Walker Scobell.
Scobell is a relative newcomer to Hollywood, but he has scored a role that will have all eyes on him. The actor has been cast as the lead, Percy Jackson, in the Disney Plus series.
It was announced to the world last year that Disney+ had taken on the quest of bringing the beloved book series to life. After the casting of Scobell, we have more faith that Disney is going to do it justice. That and Rick Riordan is involved with the process.
Riordan wrote about breaking the news to Walker on his blog, “I got to deliver the news to Walker personally via Zoom back on Jan. 28 that he had been chosen for the part, and it was a magical moment that made me feel for the first time: “Okay, this is real. This is worth all the waiting and the hard work. This project is going to be amazing.” It has been tough keeping this information under my hat because I was so excited to share the news with the fans!”
He also posted a screenshot from the Zoom where he gave Walker the news.
Taking on Percy Jackson and The Olympians and doing it justice is an important responsibility, one that a fandom will not allow to go unanswered should Percy, Annabelle, Grover and all of Camp Halfblood be given the love, care, and adaptation that it deserves.
Congratulations Walker! We’re excited for you!
