It wasn’t that long ago that the upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians series on Disney+ cast its core three heroes. Now some possible antagonists have been added to the slate. The cast now includes Dior Goodjohn (Are You Afraid of the Dark?) as Clarisse La Rue, Charlie Bushnell (Diary of a Future President) as Luke Castellan, and Olivea Morton in a guest starring role as Nancy Bobifit.
As fans know, while Percy eventually becomes friends with Clarisse, their friendship isn’t exactly immediate. (Then again, as the daughter of Ares, god of War, you wouldn’t necessarily expect her to hit it off with many people right away.) Initially adversaries upon their first meeting at Camp Halfblood (in fact, Clarisse is – inadvertently – the one to trigger Percy’s powers), the two come to develop mutual respect and even friendship over time. Things between Percy and Luke, son of Hermes, are even more complicated, but to delve too deeply into that would be veering into spoiler territory. As for Nancy, as Percy’s primary antagonist at Yancy Academy, she’s the first fully human character announced in the cast.
So far, that leaves us with our three main heroes and likely the main antagonists for the first season. Presumably, the series will follow the events of the books, though that doesn’t necessarily mean the first season with cover the entirety of the first novel. But we can certainly expect to see some characters cast in the (hopefully near) future, including Sally Jackson, Poseidon, and even Zeus himself.
As for who will be cast in these remaining pivotal roles, we’ll have to wait and see. But I, for one, can’t wait!
Percy Jackson and the Olympians will stream on Disney+, though a release date has yet to be announced.
