If we thought Pretty Little Liars: Origin Sin looked creepy in its teaser trailer, that’s nothing in comparison to the official trailer. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the executive producer, looks like he took everything he’s learned on Riverdale and the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to give us a Pretty Little Liars like we’ve never seen before. In fact, it’s looking very much like a slasher show and less like teen drama. And we’re here for this new mix in the PLL world.
From what we see in the Pretty Little Liars: Origin Sin official trailer, a group of teens from the blue-collar town of Millwood are paying for the tragic series of events that almost ripped their town apart. The one giving out the justice is an unknown assailant who marks their messages with the classic “A” while using technology (of course) to threaten them with what’s to come. But it’s the slasher, serial killer, kibes that we’re getting from A that are making us want to hide under the covers but almost watch to the very last moment.

Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in present day, a disparate group of teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin committed by their parents two decades ago…as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-age, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe — in a brand-new town, with a new generation of Little Liars.
Pretty Little Liars: Origin Sin premieres July 28th on HBO Max.
