We’ve been waiting for this for some time, but we’ve finally got a release date for the third season of Star Trek: Lower Decks! Paramount+ announced that the third season of the half-hour animated irreverent Trek comedy will premiere on Thursday, August 25, 2022, in the U.S. It will be a 10-episode season, with new episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays on Paramount+.
Last Time on Lower Decks
We left the Cerritos in quite a pickle at the end of season 2. We went from celebrating a successful first contact and a presumed promotion for Captain Freeman, to Captain Freeman being falsely accused of blowing up Pakled Planet. It’s going to be a tough start to season 3 for the Lower Decks crew. I can’t wait to get back into it!
A Parody with Heart
In true Lower Decks fashion, we get a brilliantly done spoof for a teaser poster for season 3. The good folks at Titmouse, the Emmy award-winning studio behind Lower Decks, brilliantly translated the poster for Star Trek III: The Search For Spock for the Lower Decks crowd. Take a look at this side-by-side comparison I’ve made for you here.

Don’t you love a well-executed parody? That’s Lower Decks in a sentence. What are you looking forward to in season 3? I better get some Tendi/Rutherford love! Their relationship is the cinnamon roll of ships–too pure and good for this world.
In the meantime, catch up with the last season of Star Trek: Lower Decks by watching on Paramount+ and reading my reviews of season 2 here on Fangirlish. You can also watch a tiny teaser at the end of last week’s episode of The Ready Room. Stay tuned here at Fangirlish for all our Star Trek coverage, reviews, interviews, and more.
Until “Warp time!” on August 25, let’s “Engage!” in some good, old-fashioned summer reruns. Stay Cerritos strong!
