Through teaser after teaser, we’ve fallen in love with The Lord of the Things: The Rings of Power. We’ve been excited for Morfydd Clark‘s Galadriel, Ismael Cruz Cordova‘s Arondir, and the notable Elrond, played by Robert Aramayo. And we didn’t think it would be possible to be more excited or in love with this upcoming series. Then Prime Video had to go and drop the official trailer for the series.
In the official trailer for The Lord of the Things: The Rings of Power we see the shifting pieces of what is going to be the great evil of this series. But what we can’t stop thinking about is the divide between Elrond and Galadriel. He seems to be stuck with his head in the clouds while Galadriel is living in reality. There is a darkness that she has seen and experienced and it can take them all.
We’re also really excited about what this shows about the Halflings. They’re living a nomad life, free of the evils of the world and still with an innocence that shines through. That changes when a man falls from the sky and changes the lives of a couple of Halflings who can’t help but be curious in the same way that Bilbo and Frodo were when things get tough, setting them up for their own heroes’ journey.
But there’s more. The Lord of the Things: The Rings of Power really spends a lot of time in the trailer with the humans and the dwarves. Because this great evil isn’t just something that is going to mess with the elves. This is something that will touch everyone, no matter what kingdom or valley you belong to. It will even touch the Dark Lord himself, who we just know (we feel it in our bones) is part of this trailer.
Ultimately, The Lord of the Things: The Rings of Power official trailer is visually stunning and sets Galadriel front and center while showing us that we will be spending plenty of time with other characters in this world. And that’s exciting, considering that there is so much story to tell, no matter what the haters think, in a world of magic, wonder, and love. Oh, there will no doubt be love.
