Who are you inspired by? There are so many possibilities to name for us. It feels like that there are always people who are influencing little and big pieces of our lives.
One of those influences in a piece of our lives is Julie Plec. She has been such a big part of our fandom lives with The Vampire Diaries Universe, as well as another show that we absolutely LOVED – Containment (a show that definitely ended too soon). She’s also taken on Vampire Academy and we’re thrilled to watch that one.
And as if we did not love her enough, she’s now taking one of our favorite books and developing it into a series. The mega producer is taking Margaret Peterson Haddix’s book, Running Out of Time, and making it into a show entitled, Clifton.
The series will, “follow 17-year-old Jazzie Smith, who was born and raised in the idyllic, island village of Clifton, a sanctuary for runaway slaves and others who fled the United States at the height of the Civil War. When a mysterious stranger from the mainland washes up on shore, Jazzie learns a truth about the island’s origins that shatters everything she thought she knew to be true.”
The series is in development at Peacock and will be adapted by Aisha Porter-Christie.
Plec will executive produce alongside My So-Called Company president Emily Cummins as well as Kevin Misher through Misher Films. We’re looking forward to seeing how this moves ahead. Are you?
