We have a trailer for Sam Levinson’s The Idol, and it’s ..well, something. The series, which stars The Weeknd and Lily Rose Depp follows a female pop singer who starts a romance with an L.A. club owner turned secret cult leader. And if the trailer is to be believed, the show is going to be as strange as the premise sounds.
I mean, the trailer does open with the saying “From the sick and twisted minds of Abel and Sam Levinson,” so there’s that.
The show underwent some creative restructuring in April, with director Amy Seimetz and actress Suzanna Son exiting. It had originally received a 7-episode order from HBO.
