Admittedly, Motherland: Fort Salem‘s 3×05 “Cession in Session” felt a little slower than other episodes. But that’s more than ok. There’s a big bang coming, and we need to set it up before things up. And while we do miss Raelle, we like the dynamics we’re seeing between Abigail, Tally, Adil, and Scylla. They’ve become their own little family unit and they will do whatever they have to to protect each other. Even give themselves up to that basic bitch Alby. Yes, I called him that and I regret nothing.
The Team Against the World
I really enjoy that Motherland: Fort Salem continues with these theme of unity and family, particularly found family. Because honestly, I was prepared for the show to tear them apart and leave them a shadow of their former self. And yes, there are members of this family missing, Raelle and Khalida. But the fact that they’re family hasn’t lessened. If anything, they’re fighting harder for each other because they understand what is at stake.
Just because Motherland: Fort Salem continues on this theme of unity and family doesn’t mean that individual characters don’t shine. They absolutely do in a way that enriches the overall story. We still got moments of Abigail being bold, on point, and the kind of leader you want to follow. We still got moments of Tally trying to do what is best for her unit. And we still got good shippy moments where Adil teased Abigail as if it were any other day.
Ultimately, I know our favs are going to go their separate ways. That’s what happens with family units like this. And while I’m absolutely dreading it, it doesn’t mean that everything that they went through together suddenly goes away. They are family and will forever be the unit that saved Motherland: Fort Salem and helped change the face of their country for the better. Here’s hoping they all make it out alive when it comes down to it all.
Where is Raelle? What is Scylla Willing to Do?

Look, I miss Raelle on Motherland: Fort Salem. And in “Cession in Session” her not being there felt like an ache in my soul. She’s such an essential part of this unit. And not just that, she’s part of a blossoming ship that I honestly thought we were going to see together more often. Instead we’ve dealt with a Raelle who is going to destroy the world with the power of her witch bomb. And I’m just not here for that level of angst. I just want Raylla to be happy.
That’s not to say that I don’t love the time with Scylla. It’s been fascinating seeing her interacting with the group and working on becoming her own person outside of Raelle but also as part of this group. And even though we did not like the way that Scylla’s story started on Motherland: Fort Salem we’re glad to see her come to this place where she understands her past, the error of her ways, and the lengths that she’s willing to go, not just for Raelle, but for herself.
On another note, that clip from the season 3 trailer for Motherland: Fort Salem where Raylla got married…is it just me or are the chances of them getting married going up with every day that passes? Because I see it and I’ve been wondering if anyone else sees it. Maybe we’ll get the happy ending that we deserve and Freeform will end this show in a satisfying way where the haters are taken to town and our ships get the fluffy ending they’ve always wanted. Here’s hoping.
Why the Hell Does Alby Keep Getting Away

I seriously don’t understand the point of Alby. (I think that’s his name.) I know he’s meant to cause trouble and stir the pot. He’s a bad guy and that’s what they do. And you know that he’s destroyed countless witch lives. Oh, and don’t forget that he was willing to sacrifice a human, his own kind, to prove a point. There’s legitimately nothing to sympathize with him and he does nothing because act like a Scooby Doo villain, pop up when needed, and disappear into the night.
What’s even more disturbing when it comes to Alby is how Motherland: Fort Salem is giving him moments where he gets picked on by his sister. I don’t care about that and never will. And no amount of “poor him” is going to make me think that Alby is anything other than a deluded and prejudiced asshole that will get what’s coming to him. Oh, and don’t even try to make it seem like others in his circle think he’s insane for putting their “dirty blood” in him. I don’t care and I’ll never care.
Ultimately, I think Alby is going to die. I don’t think that he’s going to have a change of heart. If anything, he’s going to realize that his own people aren’t going to accept him because he’s essentially a witch now. That means they’ll ostracize him, trap him, and possibly kill him. That is…if he doesn’t kill himself first. Oh, or his sister kills him. Either way, he can fuck right off. And the board member from the Cession working with the Camarilla (probably because they made a “deal”) can fuck off too.
