Queue the tears and the anger. Multiple outlets are reporting that the Batgirl movie, starring Leslie Grace, has been scrapped at WB and will no longer be released, in theaters or HBO Max. The decision is reportedly coming amid cost-saving measures, with THR reporting Scoob!: Holiday Haunt has also been scrapped.
Of course, it’s hard to take the news and the reasoning at face value considering WB still plans to release The Flash despite star Ezra Miller’s erratic behavior and numerous allegations against him. And the internet was quick to point this problem out.
And then there’s the common sense question of:
Make it make sense:
As a latina I’ll add that seeing Grace get this role, and the possibilities for the future that entailed, was one of the most interesting and exciting things about the current DC slate. Now? Well, now I’m worried about Blue Beetle and just …incredibly disappointed that we’ve gotten to see so many “bad” movies, but this is where Warner Bros is drawing the line. Not with The Flash. Here. The movie led by an afro-latina that meant so much to so many people.
We can make jokes, but this one mostly just hurts. And it’ll keep hurting for a while.
