The Good Fight Season 6 trailer is here! And our feelings about it are equal parts “yesss” and “too soon.” Ever since it was announced this would be the final season, we haven’t really been sure if we should look forward to it or not. Normally, we’d be counting down the seconds — maybe even fractions of seconds — until this series returned for a new season. But, when you add the fact that each day closer to the start is just another day closer to the end….Well. It’s hard.
After all, we’re starting something new in Season 6…but we’re also ending something that, when you think about it, began back in 2010. So, yeah. It’s giving bittersweet.
Basically, Diane’s line from the official trailer says it all: “I feel like I’m back where I was six years ago.” We’re back there, too, Diane — about to lose you.
New: First footage of Andre Braugher’s character in The Good Fight Season 6 trailer
Speaking of starting something new: Andre Braugher makes his grand series debut as Ri’Chard Lane in this The Good Fight Season 6 trailer. When Lane declares, “I am a brand” here, all we can think to respond is, “hi. Yes. Let’s go, Mr. Braugher!” And, whether it’s intentional or not, the whole “thank you, God. We plan to kick ass in your name!” thing…kind of gives “Holt at the end of Brooklyn Nine-Nine” vibes.
If it’s not intentional, it’s probably just that, you know, we watch too much TV here.
We can’t wait to see how this new character shakes things up…even if his supporters can’t even distinguish Liz from Diane.
Welcome back, Eli Gold
But it’s also the end of an era. That doesn’t mean all this new footage of Christine Baranski as Diane Lockhart isn’t a welcome sight, though.
Baranski is, of course, far from the only familiar face going into this final season. Audra McDonald’s Liz is equally vital to The Good Fight‘s success. She is the real core of this firm, even if the series was originally centered around Diane. We’ll never get tired of just about everything about her. And we can’t wait to learn what’s next for Carmen, who was one of our absolute favorite new characters last season. Or Julius, who we are forever conflicted about because of the politics. (We’d say same goes for Kurt… But honestly? Diane should’ve ended that by now Not sorry.)
And then, at long last, we’ve got the first new clips of Alan Cumming as Eli Gold since The Good Wife ended in 2016. If, as Diane says at one point in the trailer, “no matter what we do, we just end up back at the start,” then seeing her sharing rich people laughs at a non-joke of a joke with Eli is kind of the perfect way to drive that point home. Another familiar face from the good ol’ days, who’s sure to have us cracking up? Check out Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni. (Yes, we wish Alicia Florrick were here. No, we’re not letting that take away our joy all these years later.)
But, as much as it’s possible to keep naming names and pointing out every second that had us about 50% crying and 50% laughing so hard we cried, the trailer speaks for itself.
