Nicole Kidman‘s meme-worthy ad for AMC is coming back for another year, according to Adam Aron, the AMC Entertainment chairman and CEO. This news came Thursday (August 5, 2022) during an update on where the company is doing after struggling under debt and COVID closures.
“AMC just completed a spectacularly encouraging second quarter that boosts our mood and brightens our prospects as we look ahead,” Aron said in a statement. This was helped by the likes of movies like Top Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World Dominion with their net losses over a three-month period improving to $121.6 million.
In the viral ad, Kidman takes you on a journey about how AMC changes moviegoers’ experiences. And with her star power, charisma, and charm, you’re instantly like, “This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen, but I also want to watch movies over at AMC. Muriel, grab the popcorn!”
In no time, it became a meme. Some superimposed the image of the screen with a scene from House of Gucci where Lady Gaga and Adam Driver have sex on a desk. Others wasted no time in analyzing the whole thing from start to finish. And others caught incidents where people fought during the commercial.
