A first look at the musical adaptation of the early-2000s classic The Devil Wears Prada is here and we have thoughts!
Entertainment Weekly released an exclusive first look at the musical adaptation of the 2006 work of art that remains an absolute classic. The film was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name. Now, the fictional Runway magazine is coming to life on stage.
We’ll be honest, we’re ride or die for anything The Devil Wears Prada, or anything Prada-adjacent. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt are each goddesses and girl-bosses that inspire us today and every day.
We also love musicals, so…the combination could be intriguing. The music itself is also written by Elton John, which means we know we’ll be able to bop to the music. The musical stars Beth Leavel, Taylor Iman Jones, Megan Masako Haley, and our Broadway fave Javier Muñoz.
That being said, if the stage version of Miranda Priestly doesn’t match Meryl’s energy…is this worth it? She is the original mean girl. We all need a Miranda Priestly in our lives to bring out the best in ourselves. Her combination of vision and toxicity is what we need in this moment. That motivation can’t be messed with.
So much of what made the source material intriguing was the tea spilled about the inside of the fashion of industry. This is what fans deserve.
In the meantime, we’ll be re-reading the novel and re-watching the cinematic masterpiece to study up before seeing our favorite fashion icons grace the stage.
