“The Devil You Know” focuses on Athena, Bobby, and the search for the truth about what happened to the missing girl all those years ago. Last week, her body was discovered in Athena’s parents house. Is Athena’s dad a murderer? Let’s find out.
The episode begins in the past with Athena as a young girl waiting for her dad to come home. When he does show up, he’s dirty. After Athena goes to bed, Tanya’s mom comes over and informs everyone that she’s missing and it looks like she was taken from her bedroom. Or was she?
Back in the present, Athena’s dad is still in a coma, but the police collect DNA and advise Athena to not be a police officer in this situation. Be a daughter. Translation: stay out of our way. Does anyone actually think Athena will do that? We don’t.

Learning the Truth
This case has more twists and turns than we can imagine. But we wouldn’t expect anything less from 9-1-1. Athena and Bobby visit Tanya’s sister, Joanne, and it’s revealed that Tonya wasn’t taken from their house. Tanya and Joanne both snuck out that night.
After some digging, Athena and Bobby figure out that Junior was responsible for Tanya’s murder. Someone Athena thought was a friend. And it turns out, Junior has killed multiple girls. Sick. Hopefully he’ll go to jail for the rest of his life.
We also have to point out that while we have sympathy for Joanne, if she had told the police the truth in the first place, maybe it wouldn’t have taken so long to find Tanya’s body. We understand that Joanne probably felt terrible since Tanya snuck out to hang out with her, but still. She should have told the truth.

Moving On
Anyway, we’re really happy that Athena’s dad isn’t a killer, and that his health is improving. Athena seems to have a great relationship with her dad, and we’re glad that it wasn’t ruined.
Hopefully Athena and Bobby can get back to the 118 next week and relieve Hen of her captain duties. But they still need to take that vacation. Will they ever get a break? And honestly, while we love watching Athena and Bobby kick ass, solve crimes, and take down murderers, we miss them interacting with the rest of the 118. We hope we get that next week.
Also, if we’re ever in trouble or need a case solved, we’re calling Athena and Bobby.
