Here we go!
According to Deadline, Sabrina Carpenter is set to star and produce Nicholl Fellowship winner Into the Deep Blue. Although the specific details of the plot of the film have not yet come out, we do know some details about the character that Sabrina Carpenter will play.
Carpenter will play Fiona, a young woman dealing with the loss of her mother, anxiety and a complicated relationship with her best friend, Nick, whom she met in grief therapy.
It sounds like Fiona has a lot on her plate in Into the Deep Blue and the character’s anxiety issues will be central to the plot. We like that a problem as serious as anxiety is put in the spotlight of a big movie like this. It’s time to take a close look at our mental health and learn to heal our minds just as we learned to heal our bodies.
The script, from writer and novelist Jennifer Archer, was recently selected for the 2022 Nicholl Fellowship by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Previous winners of the Nicholl Fellowship include Nicole Beckwith, Destin Daniel Cretton, Susannah Grant, Terri Edda Miller, and Ehren Kruger.
Into the Deep Blue will be shot in the UK next year, and will be directed by Jonathan Wright. The film is produced by Lucinda Rhodes Thakrar, Mark Vennis, and Michael Baker.
