Doctor Who‘s got a new addition to the TARDIS! Finally, because of BBC’s Children in Need event, we now know who the Fifteenth Doctor’s companion is. Millie Gibson is Ruby Sunday and will be accompanying Ncuti Gatwa in the TARDIS in 2023.
The 18-year-old hasn’t had a long acting career but has already made splashes on screen. Prior to being on Coronation Street as Kelly Neelan, she played Indira on CBBC’s Jamie Johnson.

The announcement of Gibson being on Doctor Who came with some mixed reactions. Some fans are feeling a bit “geriatric” now that they’ve realized the new companion is so young. To put it in perspective, Gibson was only a month old when series one with Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper began filming. This just proves that NuWho also raised another generation.
As for where you’ve seen them before, both Gibson and Gatwa are somewhat fresh to acting. As Gibson became well-known as Kelly Neelan, Gatwa gained fame as Eric Effiong on Netflix’s Sex Education. Of course, now that they are both in Doctor Who, they’re probably going to have their phones ringing nonstop.
So put down your walkers, canes, and pitchforks, it’s just another phase of Doctor Who. With the higher budget and fresh stars, it seems that Russell T Davies is looking to raise yet another generation of new Whovians.
Doctor Who will return with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor in 2023. The show will then introduce Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor later that year.
