Robert Pattinson is expendable in Bong Joon-ho‘s new sci-fi thriller Mickey 17.
Based on the book Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton, it tells the story of a cloned worker who is called “Expendable.” Because of the simple fact that he can be replaced like nothing, he is sent on dangerous missions that no one else wants to do. But things get a little messy when he comes back from his latest mission and his replacement is already there, which absolutely gives Sam Rockwell Moon vibes.
It’s important to note the “based on the book” aspect of it all. Because the director of Parasite isn’t going to reproduce what’s on the page. That’s predictable. What he’s going to do is push into territories of unpleasant truths and what makes a human while giving Pattinson time to continue growing as an actor. And if he’s shirtless like in the video below, then so be it.
What’s really interesting about Mickey 17 is the stacked cast that is joining Pattinson along for the ride. The She-Hulk‘s Mark Ruffalo will co-star alongside Steven Yeun from Nope, the iconic Toni Collette who is just everything, and Naomi Ackie from The Rise of Skywalker. With Bong Joon-ho at the helm and Robert Pattinson taking the lead, this is already rounding up to being one of the most anticipated upcoming films.
