Taylor Swift is multifaceted and it’s one of the reasons we love her. However, we didn’t see her new project coming… although the truth is that she was already taking steps toward this for a long time. Do you want to know what we are talking about? Keep reading!
Here we go!
Variety welcomed the weekend with unexpected news: Taylor Swift will be making her directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures! She has written an original script that will be brought to the big screen by one of the most prestigious studios in recent times.
It may not sound like it at first glance, but Searchlight Pictures is responsible for no less than two multiple Academy Award-winning films in recent Oscars. We are talking about Nomadland and The Shape of Water – the latter directed by Guillermo del Toro, which we can enjoy twice on Netflix.
No more details are known about the script that Swift wrote, so we don’t know yet the casting of the film, much less the plot of it. So we’ll have to wait a little longer to get an idea of what Swift will bring to the big screen.
Although Swift is best known for her studio albums – her last one, titled “Midnights” was released in October – the truth is that she has already taken a few steps in the world of production and direction. Those previous steps now seem prescient, since writing a movie script seems like the logical next step for Swift.
Swift’s most notable work that feels like a clear lead-up to this news is the 14-minute production of All Too Well: The Short Film, as Taylor Swift wrote and directed it, screening at the Tribeca Film Festival 2022 and at the Toronto International Film Festival.
In any case, we can’t wait to find out what the film will be about, written by an artist who has marked a generation.
