One of the most amazing things about Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical (and when we say amazing we mean we kinda don’t even recognize her, and there’s this lingering sense that, maybe, there wasn’t a need to hire an actress that needed to go through such a transformation, though well, Emma Thompson. We do love her), is Agatha Trunchbull. And of course, this isn’t a character you’re meant to like, but one you’re meant to fear. And fear her we do. Like, a lot.
Mostly because how is she even Emma Thompson? Makes no sense whatsoever.
Now, Netflix has given us a glimpse at how the transformation took place and though things do make sense now, we’re still in awe at the magic that goes on BTS. Makeup is magic sometimes, okay? Just look at this and tell us otherwise.
