As you can probably guess by the title, this week’s episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star was all about control freaks. And yes, Owen is one of them, which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. But his reasons for being controlling came from a place of love, unlike the situation Marjan found herself in. Marjan stepped up and helped save the life of someone who desperately needed it. Let’s review.
Welcome Back, Marjan!
It honestly hasn’t been that long since Marjan left the 126, but it was so nice to see her again! She sees a couple trying to fix their RV that broke down. The couple seems nice, but as soon as they leave, Marjan notices the note that Kiley left on her motorcycle. Grant was going to kill her.
Kiley was so lucky that Marjan found her. If we were in danger, we definitely would want Marjan on our side. And we definitely wouldn’t want her as our enemy. Marjan was able to come up with a plan, with a little help from Patty (fabulous guest star Dot-Marie Jones), and get Kiley out of her abusive relationship and give the police enough evidence to arrest Graham.
Seriously, there should be a special place in hell for abusers. Grant made Kiley feel worthless and he blamed her for everything. If she hadn’t found Marjan, she probably would have been seriously hurt or worse a few days later. Marjan was truly a hero this week.
Wedding Planning
TK and Carlos spend time wedding planning in “Control Freaks” and Owen spends time offering his advice. He gives a little too much help to Carlo and TK, and it was a little over the top. But you know what? He meant well. TK is the most important person in his life, and it was nice to see him so excited about his son’s wedding. TK didn’t even want to say anything because he knew how excited Owen was.
But the gluten-free cake option was the final straw and Carlos and TK decide they need help. So they turned to Carlos’ mom because Owen “has gone insane” according to TK. It was entertaining watching Andrea and Owen together and it turns out, the vegan cake was the best! Carlos even admitted it was delicious (and the look on his face was hilarious.) This clearly didn’t go the way Carlos or TK imagined especially after Owen and Andrea started working on the flower arrangements. Owen and Andrea are the team no one saw coming. We hope we see more of this because it was fun!
But, ultimately, it is TK and Carlos’ wedding so they do get to decide what they want. We hope that no matter what cake they choose or what flowers they have, they’re happy with the choices that are made.
Other Thoughts:
- We loved when Judd asked if anyone had just talked to Owen about their feelings. What a fabulous idea, Judd! Actually talking to people about how you feel can help. Except maybe not for Judd since Grace’s dad didn’t talk to him for two years. Oops.
- The dad at the beginning of the episode that had a heart attack was the definition of a control freak. No wonder the kid had such a hard time driving. He was so stressed out! Hopefully, his dad will calm down now after that horrible accident.
- As much as we love that Marjan saved the day this week, we have to wonder how much longer she’ll be away from the 126. They need her!
