This week’s 9-1-1: Lone Star was one of the funniest episodes we’ve had in a long time. Which is kind of a relief since last week was so serious. We loved watching Tommy deal with Trevor’s daughter (maybe one of the worst kids ever?) in “Tommy Dearest” and watching the start of the most unlikely relationship between a shut-in and a pizza delivery guy. Let’s review.
The Pastor’s Daughter

The children of pastors have a bad reputation and are stereotyped as being the kids who “rebel” or are the “bad kids.” Which sometimes isn’t fair. But in the case of Trevor’s daughter, Mel, it is SPOT ON. Oh man, she was the worst! At the beginning of “Tommy Dearest,” we were excited to see Tommy and Trevor’s relationship develop and everything seemed to be going smoothly. Until Mel turned into the devil. She threatened Tommy and gave her an ultimatum: break up with Trevor or deal with her.
Tommy didn’t back down, and it was hilarious watching the two of them go at it. When Mel faked being sick, Tommy called her bluff and made up a diagnosis that could only be cured with the worst “milkshake” ever. Milk, pickle juice, and Tobasco? So gross. Mel didn’t back down, either, and drank that awful concoction and continued to torture Tommy.
It did end on a good note when Tommy was able to help Mel when she actually did feel sick. It seems like these two have called a truce and it looks like they may be able to get along? We hope so because we really like Tommy and Trevor and we look forward to seeing more of their relationship.
One thing’s for sure: we definitely would not want to be on Tommy or Mel’s bad side.
Weird – But Cute – Romances

The rescues in “Tommy Dearest” were kind of strange, but we’ve come to expect that on this show. But we absolutely loved the cute story between the woman who won’t leave her house and the pizza delivery guy. At first, we were mad that Valerie tased Lance. Lance literally saved her life and the thanks he got was being tased. Luckily, Valerie is able to revive Lance with Grace’s assistance, and it seems like these two are headed for romance. Valerie even left her house for him. How cute! Apparently, you can find love anywhere.
We enjoyed the other rescue this week, too. It was funny seeing the woman being held upside down on the back of the firetruck in order to keep her alive until her pacemaker could be put back into place. It was refreshing to see these kinds of humorous scenarios again as the last few weeks have been more serious. Humor is one of the things Lone Star does best.

Other Thoughts:
- We hope that Paul can find happiness whether it’s with Asha or someone else. We liked that Owen showed him he didn’t have to give up things from his past if he really enjoys them. And we have to say: we like this new-ish relationship between Paul and Owen.
- How amazing did Tommy look in that dress? Wow.
- Can Bella Blanding appear on this show more? She was pretty great as Mel.
9-1-1: Lone Star airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Fox.
