Fall TV season is already taking shape, and honestly? Networks are not playing it safe this year. Between franchise reshuffling and surprise midseason holds, the 2026-2027 season is shaping up to be one of the most interesting lineups we’ve seen in a while. Here’s everything you need to know.
ABC

ABC’s Network TV fall schedule is surprise after surprise. One of the most notable scripted shifts is R.J. Decker moving from a midseason launch to a full fall rollout for Season 2. But the bigger surprise is what ABC is not airing in the Fall. High Potential, the the most successful show of the network, is being hold for midseason. The same goes for The Rookie, its upcoming spinoff The Rookie: North, and Will Trent.
NBC

NBC’s schedule isn’t a surprise. Law & Order: SVU remains firmly planted in its longtime slot while Law & Order shifts to 10/9c. The network’s Monday strategy becomes even more interesting in November. The Voice will shrink from two hours to one, making room for comedies St. Denis Medical and The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.
NBC clearly wants a stronger comedy identity again, and pairing those shows together feels very intentional. Then there’s Line of Fire, the new drama starring Peter Krause and Hope Davis, which will close out Monday nights. This show is one of NBC’s biggest scripted bets of the season.
And the network still has major projects waiting for midseason. The Rockford Files reboot starring David Boreanaz arrives in January, while Sunset P.I.—led by Jake Johnson and Jane Levy—is set for February.
CBS

CBS was the first network to unveil its plans for the 2026-2027 season, and the strategy is clear: franchises first. The FBI universe is getting a notable shake-up, with both FBI and CIA moving up an hour on Mondays. It’s a scheduling adjustment that could help strengthen the entire night while giving CBS a more aggressive primetime flow.
Meanwhile, Tuesdays belong to the NCIS franchise once again. The newest addition, NCIS: New York, is officially pushing NCIS: Origins into the 10/9c slot, continuing CBS’ effort to keep the franchise fresh. The network clearly believes there’s still plenty of life left in procedural television—and the truth is that the ratings continue to prove them right. Elsbeth and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will be back for Fall too.
One of the more intriguing moves is Marshals transitioning from a planned midseason release to a fall premiere. CBS is also making some strategic midseason holds. Ghosts, Matlock, NCIS: Sydney, and new drama Einstein are all being saved for later in the season. At least Ghosts will still air one-hour Halloween and Ghostmas specials before officially returning during midseason.
FOX

If there’s one network taking the “wait and see” approach this year, it’s FOX. Rather than overcrowding its fall schedule—only Doc will premiere in the Fall—, FOX is stacking midseason with a lineup full of scripted series and cartoon. Among the biggest scripted titles being held are Baywatch, The Interrogator, Memory of a Killer, and Murder in a Small Town.
Cartoon fans are also going to have to wait longer than usual. American Dad!, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and Krapopolis are all being held for midseason, creating a massive future animation block that could become one of FOX’s strongest programming stretches of the year.
