One Chicago is almost here! After Chicago Med and Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire is the last we already have some details about, and we can’t wait to know more! So, if you don’t want to miss anything, here’s everything we know about Chicago Fire Season 15.
Who Is Returning for Chicago Fire Season 15?
Fortunately, almost all of the cast members are returning for Chicago Fire Season 15! So expected returning main cast members include:
Taylor Kinney as Lieutenant Kelly Severide
- David Eigenberg as Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann
- Christian Stolte as Lieutenant Randall “Mouch” McHolland
- Miranda Rae Mayo as Lieutenant Stella Kidd
- Hanako Greensmith as Violet Mikami
- Jocelyn Hudon as Paramedic Lizzie Novak
- Brandon Larracuente as Sal Vasquez
The recurring cast includes Randy Flagler as Capp and Anthony Ferraris as Tony.
However, there is one two member of the cast who will not coming back. The two confirmed departures are Dermot Mulroney (Dom Pascal) and Joe Miñoso (Joe Cruz).
Pascal’s exit is particularly interesting because he only became Firehouse 51’s newest boss recently. His decision to leave also makes sense considering everything that happened with his wife, Monica, played by KaDee Strickland.
As for Cruz, Joe Miñoso is also leaving the series, although it sounds like the show is giving the character time to properly wrap up his story. He’ll appear in a few Season 15 episodes, which could be a very good sign for Cruz.
There has been no official announcement about Lucy, played by Jeanine Mason. However, after Battalion Chief Hopkins fired her, it certainly feels unlikely that she’ll be back.
Who Is Joining Chicago Fire Season 15?
And the changes aren’t limited to the cast. Andrea Newman is also stepping away as executive producer and showrunner after 14 years. Co-executive producer Victor Teran will take over as showrunner for Season 15. Executive producers are also Dick Wolf, Reza Tabrizi, Matt Whitney and Peter Jankowski. The show is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.
The good news is that Firehouse 51 isn’t going to be losing everyone. In fact, we’re getting some new faces. BMF star Da’Vinchi is joining Season 15 as Marcus Burke, a “roguish and funny” firefighter candidate, who has “a wry sense of humor” while also being “a little defiant.” Also Matthew Daddario is joining Firehouse 51 as a candidate. But details about his role haven’t been revealed.
So yes, it sounds like we’re going to have some new people to get attached to.

What Will Happen After the Chicago Fire Season 14 Cliffhanger?
We don’t have an official synopsis for Season 15 yet, but we know the new season will pick up the characters after the end of Season 14. In the finale, Rescue Squad 3 trapped inside a burning storage facility after an explosion. Severide, Mouch, Cruz, Tony Ferraris, and Capp were all unable to evacuate before things went completely off the rails. The final thing we heard from Severide was his desperate distress call: “Mayday! Mayday!”
And if you thought Truck 81 might have been spared from the chaos, unfortunately, no. Stella, Herrmann, Sal, and Ballard were trying to evacuate the rooftop when another explosion rocked the building. None of them managed to make it down the ladder before they were engulfed by the flames.
Outside, Pascal, Violet, and Lizzie could do nothing but watch in horror as Severide called for help. Then the screen went black. Season 15 has to begin by dealing with the immediate aftermath. And considering that we already know both Miñoso and Mulroney are leaving, it’s impossible not to wonder whether one of their characters could be among the casualties.
If we’re being completely honest, though, Cruz seems like the character in the most dangerous position. Pascal was outside when the explosion happened, while Cruz was still inside the building with the Rescue Squad. But we know he’ll be back for a few episodes so…that could mean he survives the explosion and eventually decides that firefighting isn’t where his future lies anymore.
And there’s a very understandable reason for that.
His wife, Chloe, is pregnant with twins. After everything Cruz has been through, stepping away from the firehouse to focus on his growing family could actually be a fitting ending for the character.
What Will Chicago Fire Season 15 Be About?
In other order of things, Severide has already passed his captain’s exam, and by the end of Season 14 he was faced with a choice: stay at Firehouse 51 or take the job at the Office of Fire Investigation. For years, OFI has seemed like Severide’s dream. So it wouldn’t be completely out of character for him to finally take that opportunity.
But there’s one major problem with that theory: Taylor Kinney has signed a new contract for Season 15. Moving Severide to OFI would probably mean fewer episodes for Kinney, which makes it difficult to imagine the show actually taking him away from Firehouse 51 for any significant amount of time.
So, if we had to bet on it, we’d say Severide is staying. In fact, considering Boden’s old office is now available, it wouldn’t be surprising if Severide steps into an even bigger leadership role at 51.
Also, whatever happens with the Season 14 cliffhanger, there are plenty of storylines waiting for us beyond the immediate question of who survives. One of the biggest will be Severide and Stella’s journey toward starting a family.
For now, that could mean taking in Isaiah, the young boy they previously fostered. His mother is now unable to care for him, putting Severide and Stella in a position to potentially become an even bigger part of his life.
But that may not be the end of their family plans. The couple has also discussed adopting a baby, while Stella had to deal with a miscarriage at the beginning of Season 14. So could Season 15 finally see their family grow? The odds are certainly looking good for Stellaride!
We’ll also get to know Marcus Burke as he adjusts to life at Firehouse 51. Meanwhile, Violet, Lizzie, and Vasquez still have their love triangle to deal with.
