We watch a lot of TV and movies! So yeah, we’re fangirling over a lot of things! Each week we come together to highlight all the feels they give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?

Best Scene of the Week
Miah: Anna Pigeon 1×05 gave us many phenomenal scenes but the best has to be when Anna saves herself from her captor. Her escape is powerful, but it allows audiences to also feel the desperation and exhaustion that Anna feels, again bringing us duality and depth that speaks to Anna’s character.
Rachel: Though it came out last week, I just got to see Coyote Vs. Acme and amid all the laughter the Looney Tunes always provide, there was much more emotion than I expected. For this category, I’m choosing the scene where the Road Runner testifies because WHY DID I ALMOST CRY??? This script was full of excellent storytelling choices, and this moment was the emotional crux of the film.
Ashley W.: I loved the moment when, in Lanterns season 1, episode 3: “OutKast,” John finds out that his artistic abilities are what helped make him a worthy candidate to be a Green Lantern. It was a great reminder that staying true to yourself and pursuing what you love is valuable and your gift to the world.
Jasmine: Oh, that final moment between Nora and Ed in the season finale of Furious was EVERYTHING. He was so sure he got the upper hand in making sure that Jay Easton and every man involved in sex trafficking wouldn’t be caught. He messed with Nora’s investigation every step of the way. When she got on that elevator and told him she had the USB with all the video footage that could implicate him and the others, it was delightful!
Shana: I wouldn’t call it a scene, exactly, but KY Kelly putting Paris Baby in her place in the Drag Race UK Season 8 premiere was a moment. No, you don’t get to just make fat jokes and think it’s all in good fun, or a read, or whatever with a queen you just met. And KY Kelly wasn’t mean or nasty…just to the point, clear with her boundaries, and not to be F—ed with.
Ship of the Week
Raquel: After Prime Video’s Maxton Hall Season 3 teaser, now more than ever, Ruby & James forever!
Shelby: I’m doing a rewatch of The Nanny for the first time in a long time, and I’m having the best time watching Fran and Maxwell fall in love with each other. I always forget how much I love them and their banter and chemistry.
Rachel: I’m going the platonic route this week and saying the friendship between Wile E. Coyote and Will Forte’s Kevin Avery in Coyote Vs. Acme. It was just such a heartwarming part of the film. When Kevin said that Coyote never gave up and always got back up, no matter what happened to him, that got me.
Shana: I’m cheating because I haven’t really had a lot to ship with TV and movies this week, but books? Whew. I’ve been reading The Empyrean series. Just finished Onyx Storm. Violent and Xaden own me. Period.
Best Performance of the Week
Miah: Tracy Spiridakos in Anna Pigeon episode 5. Tracy knows how to deliver soulful performances, tugging at heartstrings and showing her range. She portrays her characters’ various emotions in a way that doesn’t feel turbulent, instead holding space for authentic duality. Anna suffers from situations where emotions and reactions aren’t cut and dry, and Tracy portrays the ideas of multiple truths and feelings in her acting. It enhances the depth and impact of the performance and overall story.
Rachel: This week, I want to shout out Jasmine Cephas Jones as John Stewart’s mother, Bernadette, in Lanterns 1×03. This hour focused on John and his history with the idea of being a Lantern, and Jones showed effortlessly how her strong and dedicated character was a driving force in her son’s destiny. Loved seeing her share scenes with Laura Linney, another great actress.
Ashley W.: I’m with Rachel on this one! Jasmine Cephas Jones was absolutely phenomenal in Lanterns episode 1×03. The episode was such a nuanced narrative, and it wouldn’t have been as well-done if not for how well Jones did portraying the complexities of John’s mom, Bernadette. Her performance was the undoubted standout and showed off her range as an actor.
Shana: Mariana “Eminem” Stars! So nice to see the real Slim Shady Mariana Stars finally show up for Latina Royale. (We’ll just pretend we didn’t see that lip sync…although…I mean, kinda legendary to just party up there without knowing a single lyric. Maybe not the right kind of legendary…but legendary.)
Jasmine: Steve Way as Alden stole a lot of the last episodes of Furious season one. He’s so funny and his comedic timing was everything. He also added a lot of heart. Especially in his scenes with Lola Petticrew.
Moment that Annoyed Us This Week
Rachel: An entertainment “journalist” threatens a young actress with bad coverage if he doesn’t get access and he still has a career???
Ashley W.: I’m sure anyone who watched the newest episode of Lanterns would agree there were several moments worth highlighting here, but the instance when John’s parents made him get out of the car, left him behind at night, and forced him to walk home was absurd and infuriating. There’s a difference between teaching your child to be fearless and purposely endangering him!
Jasmine: Jay Easton’s daughter Emma getting away Scott free in the season finale of Furious. That Woman enabled her father’s sick habits of assaulting young girls. AND she cleans up his messes. Alice was right there inside the house and could’ve had her in cuffs. But Emma did such a good job playing the victim it went over her head. I’m so hoping Alice gets her next season since I know the shows coming back for a second season.
I’m also still slightly annoyed we didn’t get as much of Catherine and her backstory as I wanted. And I’m also mad she didn’t truly get the justice she wanted for everything she went through. Obviously I knew she wouldn’t get away with murder but I still felt so much sadness for her. But it honestly showcased the reality of what women go through even when they’ve gone through such horrible abuse.
