One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s best trilogies is set to conclude later this year. What started with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along will end with VisionQuest. Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, even spoke about the quality to Inverse late last year. “I didn’t know anything about it until [Paul Bettany] and I spent time with each other just the other week, and he’s so proud of it,” Olsen said. “It really sounds like a trifecta between Agatha All Along, his show, VisionQuest, and what we made with WandaVision. So, I’m excited to see that.” Updates about this show have been rolling out for a while now, with things really picking up within the last year. In anticipation of VisionQuest, we gathered everything you need to know.
What Is VisionQuest About?
VisionQuest was originally announced to be in development in October 2022 – a little over a year after WandaVision ended. Since then, details about the plot have been kept under wraps. It’s only recently, like Disney’s Upfronts and this year’s D23 event, that any solid information about the show’s story has been released.
That said, WandaVision’s ending suggests that VisionQuest will follow the white Vision, who has lost all his memories. Whether it happened in or out of the Westview hex, it’s all gone for him. His final on-screen intention is to discover who he is. Jac Schaeffer, who created both WandaVision and Agatha All Along, does not return as the showrunner for this show. Instead, Terry Matalas is VisionQuest’s showrunner.
VisionQuest’s official description reads as follows:
Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.

Who from the MCU is in VisionQuest?
Of course, VisionQuest stars Paul Bettany as Vision, who first brought the robot to life, so to speak, in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Relatedly, James Spader is set to reprise his role as Ultron. The other memorable AI robots making their way to VisionQuest are Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., T’nia Miller as Jocasta, and Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari. D’Arcy’s return is particularly exciting after meeting the real man in the TV series, Agent Carter.
Deadline reports that the cast will also include Todd Stashwick as Paladin, “a morally gray mercenary anti-hero who acts as an assassin targeting Vision’s technology,” and Faran Tahir, reprising the role of Raza from the original Iron Man film.
In November 2025, Variety exclusively reported that Lauren Morais and Diane Morgan joined the cast. According to the outlet, Morgan will play Paladin, an associate of Stashwick’s character. At the time, it was also reported that Morais will play Lisa Molinari, a character closely connected to Thomas Shepherd.
Again, through Deadline’s exclusive reporting, Ruaridh Mollica originally joined the Vision-centric series in February 2025. Then, Mollica’s character was named Tucker. It then became Thomas. Now, we know that Ruaridh Mollica will play Tommy Maximoff after Joe Locke played Billy in Agatha All Along. Both Tommy and Billy are Wanda and Vision’s sons from WandaVision. The same sons Wanda searched the multiverse for in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Is There a VisionQuest trailer?
There is, and it’s stunning! It starts with Bettany as Vision in his human avatar. He’s back in Edinburgh, where he and Wanda hid out while on the run in Avengers: Infinity War. He sees a W+V in a heart etched into a bar they frequented as a couple that he now works at. Just seeing that symbol calls back to WandaVision’s first episode, when the couple tries to figure out what the heart over August 23rd means on their calendar.
That is Wanda’s Westview manifestation of Vision’s note (“To grow old in – V.) with a heart drawn around it on the plans for their future home. As Vision touches the heart in VisionQuest, he says, “I was a different person back then.” Now, he says that “home is just me,” which spurs the VisionQuest trailer to reveal the whole world inside of Vision’s mind. He walks through his story with a projector displaying videos from the actual movies. During this, Vision wonders, “Who am I? I was an Avenger, but I’m not a hero anymore.”
The trailer also shows the human avatars of Tony’s robots F.R.I.D.A.Y., J.A.R.V.I.S, Dum-E, and U. Vision demands that Ultron also use his human avatar. VisionQuest teases that it will work to unravel Ultron and Vision’s father/son dynamic, just as Vision searches for his son, Tommy. Ruaridh Mollica’s character remembers, even if he didn’t live it. He can be seen saying, “I had a father – a machine called Vision.” Ultron’s message (“Free us all, and save your son”) suggests there’s a lot more happening in and out of Vision’s mind. But, as Tommy points out, Ultron’s not the most trustworthy figure.
When Does VisionQuest premiere?
VisionQuest is an eight-episode series. Variety confirmed that it was filmed in the U.K.’s Pinewood Studios in 2025. The show will finally premiere on Wednesday, October 14, on Disney+. This section will be updated with additional information about VisionQuest’s rollout.
