Sunrise on the Reaping ranks at the top of our favorite books in The Hunger Games series. That being said, t’s no surprise that we’re sat at any and all things that support the movie. Joseph Zada as Haymitch? Give it to us now.
Lionsgate dropped a new trailer for the upcoming adaptation and our first thought was WOW. We could literally feel the anxiety rising through our bodies – our investment in the characters and the revolution. The trailer gives us a better look at the Quarter Quell, and it is intense.
The logline, “Set in the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, the story follows Haymitch into the arena, where he forms an unlikely alliance with fellow tribute Maysilee Donner (Grace) and joins a coalition determined to challenge the Capitol’s control under President Snow (Fiennes). As the competition unfolds, Haymitch risks everything to take down the Games from within the arena — setting in motion the rebellion that will change Panem forever.”
We can tell by this trailer that this one is going to hurt and yet, we’re ready. Bring on the pain.
In addition to Zada as Haymitch, Sunrise on the Reaping stars Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, Jesse Plemons as the younger Plutarch Heavensbee, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee, and Glenn Close as Drusilla Sickle.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will be released on November 20, 2026.
