Here at Fangirlish, there are many film genres out there that we find interesting. One of those genres is a good old crime thriller. It’s even better if a bit of a comedic aspect loosens some tension. That’s what we can expect from Director Tony Tost when his first feature film Americana releases.
The film, which has no official release date yet, will premiere this Friday at SXSW and stars Sydney Sweeney, Paul Walter Hauser, and Halsey. Americana “follows waitress Penny Jo (Sweeney) and lonesome cowboy Lefty (Hauser) as they plan to steal a mythical Native American artifact called the Lakota Ghost Shirt from criminals. It’s all part of a plan to fund Penny’s big Nashville dreams. Things get complicated when the lead criminal’s long-suffering girlfriend, Mandy (Halsey), decides to take the artifact for her own personal reasons.”
The synopsis already interests us in this movie because who doesn’t like a crime flick with loads of drama? We’ve been following news for this project since it was first announced last February. We finally have a sneak peek, and now we want to know when we’ll get to watch the film in its entirety. The sneak peek features Sweeney and Hauser as they make a poor attempt to stick up Halsey’s character Mandy at a gas station.

Americana also stars Zahn McClarnon, Eric Dane, Toby Huss, Simon Rex, and Joe Adler.
